Analysis Of Frank Bruni s Today s Exhausted Superkids
Frank Bruni expresses his deep thought of the ââ¬Å"superâ⬠teens becoming exhausted on the high school or college campus in his article, ââ¬Å"Todayââ¬â¢s Exhausted Superkidsâ⬠. He supports his main idea by using details of teenagers trying to outrule each other. Bruni begins the article by discussing how sleep needs to be a top priority in studentsââ¬â¢ lives. Bruni makes very valid points while writing about societyââ¬â¢s push for students to become more involved in extracurricular and advanced classes, while also suggesting why more than seven hours of sleep is needed daily. Bruni refers to statistics of scientific studies of scientist when discussing the growing mental issues of teens. Flags are being raised not only because of suicide rates, but because sleep is beginning to have an effect on the overall body. Fingers are now being pointed towards parents for being the reason of unhealthy habits. Sleep deprivation is becoming a larger problem causing phys ical, emotional, and mental issues; Frank Bruni expresses strong evidence when referring this problem to the fault of our society. Bruni is correct when asserting the movement that parents are pushing their children farther than need be when stating, ââ¬Å"Take one more Advanced Placement class. Add another extracurricular. Apply to all eight Ivies.â⬠Parents are overwhelming their children with the thought of being smarter or goal achievable than others. When I was younger, I was told to be in bed at a certain time and to get much sleep.
